وأشار إلى أن "التطعيم الموجه للأشخاص الأكثر عرضة للإصابة بأمراض خطيرة يحقق مكاسب سريعة، يمكن أن تساعد الأخبار السارّة أيضًا في تقليل تردّد اللقاح، ومع ذلك، أصبحت التحديات الأخرى أكثر وضوحاً".

وقال "لأول مرة منذ بدء الجائحة، كان ثلثا الوفيات المبلغ عنها (43/66) في المرضى الذين تقل أعمارهم عن 75 عامًا. كانت أصغرهن امرأة تبلغ من العمر 24 عامًا ولا تعاني من أمراض مصاحبة. لا يصيب كورونا كبار السن فقط، بل تحدث التهابات شديدة عند الشباب".
