“Lebanon Debate”
The Association of Retired Military Personnel called on all public sector employees and retirees to show solidarity, unity, and intensive and active participation in all future demands in order to impose the adoption of a series of ranks and fair salaries.
In this context, retired Brigadier General Shamil Roukoz confirmed that "all public sector employees are waiting. The government previously promised us to work on approving a new series of ranks and salaries or a new serious correction of wages, considering that the situation is no longer bearable."
In his talk with “Lebanon Debate”, Shamil Roukoz said that “we gave the government enough time, but the waiting period is coming to an end. We have not seen any positive steps until now. For this reason, the association is in the process of holding several meetings during this period in order to keep the record straight.
He stressed that "everyone understands the general and financial situation the political authority is going through, but things have changed. Everything is calculated at the exchange rate of 89.500 LBP, yet what we charge is still at the exchange rate of 1500 LBP. Such a difference in rate is unacceptable, we are tired of it.”
Roukoz pointed out that "the association gave an opportunity for the government to abide by its promises. Unfortunately, it seems that so far they have not kept any of it, and there is no vision or clear plan for it, so we must move to put an end to these matters."
The retired Brigadier General asserted, "The month of June will witness major movements. They will be harsher and wider than those that occurred in the past. They will be directed at the government, the Central Bank, and the parliament, especially since it represents the people, and it must assume its responsibilities towards its people."
