The meeting between the head of Parliament Nabih Berri and the head of the progressive socialist movement Walid Jumblatt marks a significant improvement in aligning their visions as they delve into the internal affairs of the country.

According to “Lebanon Debate” sources, Jumblatt informed Berri of his visits in France and Doha that tackled the Gaza war, the Israeli open aggression and the international and regional stances regarding the situation in Gaza and the south of Lebanon.”

The 2 politicians also addressed the internal situation in Lebanon and the presidential file, both agreeing that the file does not include any notable developments.

The sources also added that they also talked about the reasons behind the absence of President Emanuel macron who was seriously thinking of visiting Lebanon before the arrival of his delegate, Jean Yves le Drian to Beirut today. Macron was advised against coming to Lebanon, due to the absence of imminent presidential elections. His visit would have been another setback to Lebanon, further undermining the French role in Lebanese affairs.

Based on the source’s information, Berri and Jumblatt deliberated on the French proposal to invite all Lebanese concerned parties to France. However, since these parties are adamant on their standpoints their visit to France will mirror the current stalemate in Lebanon, leading to the failure of the new French initiative.”
