Former Lebanese President Michel Aoun conveyed his condolences to Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah over the phone, after previously visiting the Iranian embassy to offer condolences following the passing of the Iranian president and foreign minister only a week prior.
In this context, the absence of the head of the free patriotic movement, Gebran Bassil, was also easily noted.
Sources from the Free Patriotic Movement explained to “Lebanon debate” that Bassil is currently in Italy for the opening of the Maronite church.
However, the absence of both is extremely important as it is considered that Bassil and Aoun were sending implicit messages to Hezbollah, suggesting that the ties between the two parties have been rather shaky recently.
