The Lebanese are all eager to see the launch of the housing loan project after it was postponed for the longest time.

In this context, the General Manager of the Banque de l’habitat, Antoine Habib confirmed in an interview with “Lebanon debate”: “The launching date will be on June 3 following the launch of the online platform and the submission of applications. It is expected that the file studying operation will begin after receiving in late June the funds needed to start giving out loans. “

He clarified: “To facilitate the submission of application, an electronic website was created through which the citizen can fill out his form. A special link will also be the bridge needed between the Banque de l’habitat and the ministry of finance awaiting the agreement on the forms submitted online.”

The conditions of loan granting have not been altered:

- The borrower must be Lebanese for more than 10 years.
- The area of the apartment should not exceed 150 square meters.
- The borrower must not have benefited of any similar loans.
- The borrower must not have an apartment on Lebanese soil.

Habib also added:” Individuals with special needs will receive special consideration during the review of their applications. We will also allow low and middle-income earners, to benefit of these services, especially since the money allocated by the Arab funds is solely for providing loans to those with limited and moderate incomes and people with special needs."

Habib emphasized: “The step that we are taking in June will be followed by many other steps, including a new loan with the Abu Dhabi fund for development that will be announced soon. We are also in contact with other Arab funds such as the Saudi and Qatari ones, and we are working on getting in touch with all of the concerned funds to provide the sources needed to finance the banque de l’habitat.”
