An actual war in the south!

“Lebanon Debate”

The drums of war are sounding off in the absence of any plans to halt military operations in Gaza. Israel has been threatening Lebanon daily, expanding the range of its attacks further into Lebanese territory.

With each passing day, more people are growing concerned that the south is stepping into the next phase of this war, where additional areas of engagements will be determined, especially with the development of military operations and the use of new weapons in the confrontation between Hezbollah and Israel.

Executive director of “Inegma” for political analysis Riad Kahwaji, confirms that the south of Lebanon is witnessing an actual war, in other terms, a war of attrition, based on artillery, missile bombardment and air strikes.

In an interview with “Lebanon Debate”, Kahwaji reveals that the main question that should be asked is: “When will this war of attrition become an actual ground war?”

He clarified that this transformation is possible, but not before the end of the military ground operation in Gaza.

When asked about the possibility of reaching a ceasefire in Gaza and an exchange of hostages, Kahwaji said: “There has been no progress in the indirect negotiations, both sides are adamant on their conditions. There will also be no actual action before the end of the Gaza war, at the insistence of Hezbollah, as part of the policy “of unity of the squares”.”

In the context of the summit between US president Joe Biden and French president Emanuel Macron, the CEO stated: “I do not expect that the American-French summit will have any significant results. Yes, they might tackle the situation in the south and the presidential crisis that is now interlinked with the end of the war in Gaza.”
