Pioneering Lebanese companies were capable of becoming where they are today through the development of several projects.

Wooden Bakery stands as a prime example, a true pioneer in baking, selling bread, cake, sweets and pastries for almost 60 years. It might even be one of the few companies that succeeded in leveraging its expertise in franchise contracts.

A story of a “wooden” bakery. A story of success written through hard work and sweat. A story based on the faith of its owners and founders in Lebanon.

The trademark of Wooden Bakery spread across the Arab world; from KSA, Qatar, Iraq, to Kuwait becoming a beacon of success and expansion.
However, all of these accomplishments are today threatened due to a mistake, that the company confessed to committing, seeking to rectify the error while holding accountable those responsible.

On May 27, 2024, a significant amount of expired flour was uncovered at a Wooden Bakery branch in Zahle.

Laboratory testing of the flour samples is underway, and the results are expected to come out within a week.

Following the discovery, the branch was sealed, and the concerned authorities arrested the chairman, director general, head of production, and additional employees, as further raids and arrest are still ongoing.

These measures were taken before the issue of the laboratory test results. The company was condemned and punished without concrete proof of the flour's expiration, drastically impacting its sales and endangering its commercial presence.

From this point, the company asks why are the concerned authorities not following the rules of the law, given that the suspected error is a violation of the law? Why aren’t they waiting for the test results? Why are the bakery’s doors being sealed shut? Why are they arresting the company’s personnel? And why are they tarnishing the company’s reputation on social media?

Wooden bakery confirmed to “Lebanon Debate” that it completely trusts the judiciary system, while calling for the release of all arrested individuals, so that they can resume their work. The company also urged the judiciary authorities to take the appropriate measures to hold those responsible accountable without causing the company's bankruptcy, pleading for its trademark not to be ruined due to this violation.
