The Lebanese army issued the following statement: "The American embassy in Lebanon, situated in Awkar area, was fired upon by an individual of Syrian nationality.
In response to the incident, army personnel deployed in the area retaliated, injuring the shooter who was subsequently apprehended and transported to the hospital for treatment."
The statement further noted, "Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident."
