Threat Looms on a Parliamentary Bloc

placeholder

“Lebanon Debate”

MP Adeeb Abdel Masih did not participate in the Renewal Bloc meeting with a delegation from the Progressive Socialist Party, raising questions about the relations among members of the northern bloc.

In this context, sources from Lebanon Debate confirm that there were some differences preventing Abdel Masih from joining the meeting. However, the MP has not shown any intention to leave the bloc, as efforts are underway to resolve these issues.

In further detail, MP Michel Moawad mentioned some of these differences in a TV appearance, surprising some of the bloc’s members as they weren’t even aware of these issues, prompting a response from Abdel Masih.

The sources also mentioned the efforts are being exerted to mitigate the situation and find common ground or an alternative.

The dispute is not solely between Moawad and Abel Masih, as Moawad also has disagreements with another MP, Fouad Makhzoumi, regarding US trips, catalyst for disputes within the bloc.

Additionally, disputes are also present with MP Ashraf Rifi, who aligned himself with the Lebanese Forces and joined the Hayat Arslan movement. He also expressed condolences to the Islamic group following the death of one of their members and did not consult with his bloc members before suggesting a meeting in the north with MP Sami Gemayel.

The sources do not rule out the possibility of the MP leaving the bloc if solutions or common ground cannot be reached, as the pride and egos of some members are at stake. However, they confirmed that his departure is unlikely in the near future
