The War is in Its Final Days!

Amid the developments on the southern front, and following the resignation of Ministers Benny Gantz and Gadi Eisenkot from the Israeli war cabinet, retired General Amine Hatit considers these resignations as an implementation of the rule "the winners stick together, and the losers dismantle."

In an interview with “Lebanon Debate”, Hatit explained that these resignations effectively acknowledge the failure of the 8-month-long war to achieve its goals, leaving Israel with no apparent solutions to save itself from this doom.

He added: "The resignations signify a halt to the strategy pursued over the past 8 months, based on military operations aimed at killing rather than engaging in combat. Gantz and Eisenkot are now seeking a new strategy that could offer a ray of hope to Israelis, hoping that the US will back them with a solution."

He emphasized: " Contrary to popular belief, the resignations will likely lead to an even greater escalation.I believe these resignations have dealt a severe blow to Israeli leadership both politically and militarily, shaking up the internal dynamics of the Israeli government and pushing them to seek alternative strategies, away from purely military approaches."

General Hatit stressed the importance of U.S. involvement given the urgency of the situation and Israel's need for a solution. He also believes this will increase of the American interference to resolve the crisis.

He further commented on the recent operation in the Nuseirat camp: "Despite Israel's portrayal of the attack as a heroic operation, it is, in fact, a dirty one, and they are aware of its questionable nature. Such operations cannot be repeated in the future. Although they managed to rescue 4 hostages, they also killed 3 of the remaining hostages, in addition to 9 losses on their side."

Regarding the situation in the Gaza Strip, Hatit remarked :"The operations in the Gaza Strip are nearing their end, and we will soon witness a settlement one way or the other. Once a ceasefire is reached in Gaza, a similar agreement will likely follow on the southern front in Lebanon. However, Israel could launch a full-scale war on Lebanon, but I strongly dismiss this possibility following the series of Israeli resignations, which indicate a shift towards seeking a solution rather than escalation."
