Crucial Days for the Tourism Sector

placeholder

“Lebanon Debate”

A few days before Eid al-Adha, which coincides with the start of the summer season this year. Lebanese expatriates are anticipated to reunite with their families for this holiday. However, many may fear coming to their country because of the ongoing attacks in the south and the looming threat of an all-out war.

In this context, Tony Ramy, the President of the Syndicate of Owners of Restaurants, Cafés, Night-Clubs and Pastries in Lebanon, emphasized in an interview with "Lebanon Debate" that "Eid al-Adha will serve as a “mini proof” for this summer's tourism. Based on the results, we will assess the demand of expatriates for restaurants."

Ramy explains that "the restaurant sector faces daily challenges, and we hope for the best. However, the situation is not easy, especially with the ongoing war in the south and the continuous talk about the possibility of an all-out war in Lebanon, which threatens the tourist movement."

He added, "The situation is very delicate, but we are ready. The restaurant and cafe sector is fully prepared. Let’s not forget the various concerts that will be held for Lebanese and Arab stars this month, sending a message to the world that Lebanon is a country of life, tourism, and peace."

Ramy concluded, "Although we have not yet seen any positive movement in the markets, it is assumed that the tourism movement will start improving starting tomorrow, with positive indicators expected during the upcoming Eid al-Adha festivities."
