“Lebanon Debate”
In an interview with Lebanon Debate, Caretaker Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. George Kallas revealed that the Parliament thoroughly discussed the World Bank's report on Syrian displacement in Lebanon. He underscored its significance as a serious issue that has persisted for an extended period. Despite its longstanding nature, the World Bank has prepared an official report on the matter.
The report is described as "the document upon which Lebanon officially relies in any engagement with the International Community," and the government has confirmed its intention to adopt this report.
Kallas stated that the Acting Director General of General Security, Brigadier General Elias al-Baissari addressed the issue of the displaced, outlining General Security's approach to handling both registered and unregistered individuals with professionalism and resolve."
He underscored the importance that the General Security places on preserving human dignity and security, emphasizing their paramount importance for both Lebanese and Syrians, particularly displaced individuals.
Regarding the chemicals found in the Zouk Power Plant, Kallas indicated that "the issue was solved today, and a decision was made with a request to conclude the matter as soon as possible, regardless of the nature of the substances detected in the power plant."
