“Lebanon Debate”
Member of the National Moderation Bloc, MP Ahmed Rostom confirmed that “dealing with the Qleyaat airport file is a national right and need. This file has always been one of our top priorities as a party. However, we are aware that today we are going through dire conditions amidst the war in Gaza and southern Lebanon. For this particular reason, the examination of this file will be postponed pending further developments in the upcoming phase.”
The MP revealed to Lebanon Debate that “we will tackle the file of the Qleyaat Airport when the time is deemed appropriate. We will exert pressure by all means possible, even resorting to public support, to revive the airport. This facility is a new economic asset that can provide vital resources for the people of the North.
Regarding the concerns raised about Beirut airport, Rostom dismisses them as mere media exaggerations. These concerns aim at disrupting the tourist season and sowing confusion in the country. He asserts that Beirut airport serves all Lebanese and cannot be used as a weapons depot.
"We urgently need to elect a president," Rostom emphasizes, "as having a president in office will facilitate progress on the Qleyaat airport project. This initiative is crucial for stimulating economic activity in the north and across Lebanon."
Rostom stresses that “we should not forget the hardships faced by people in the south. We are currently in a state of war, awaiting calm in Gaza and the southern regions. We sincerely hope that peace will be restored and we will be able to elect a president to bring stability back to Lebanon's public life.”
