Aoun's Appeal Against Hajjar's Decision

Lebanon Debate learned that the Mount Lebanon Public Prosecutor, Judge Ghada Aoun, was headed to the State Council to file an appeal against the decision of Acting Attorney General, Judge Jamal al-Hajjar. The later took the prevented the judicial police from executing requests for habeas corpus. However, at the State Council, they requested an authentic copy of the decision. Judge Aoun then requested this from the Public Prosecution Registry. Upon receiving it, an official quickly approached her, retrieved the decision from her, and provided a copy of a statement issued by Judge al-Hajjar instead.


This action led Judge Aoun's lawyer to document the incident, arguing that the failure to provide the decision effectively nullified it, implying that the judicial police should proceed with executing habeas corpus requests or arrests as issued by Judge Aoun.

Additionally, Judge Ghada Aoun was informed today by her registrar at the Public Prosecution in Mount Lebanon of a request from the Acting Attorney General to hand over all investigation files related to the company "Optimum".
