أشار مدير مستشفى الحريري فراس أبيض في سلسلة تغريدات على حسابه عبر "تويتر"، على أن " لا شك أن كورونا ليس موضوعًا بارزًا في الوقت الحالي في لبنان"، مشيراً الى أن "في هذا الوقت، يحتاج الناس للالتقاء، وربما لعناق جماعي لكن فيروس كورونا حاليا قد يكون عائقا لذلك، الا أنه علينا ان ننتبه ان عدد الحالات اليومية يستمر في تسجيل أرقام قياسية جديدة".
وعن الوضع الحالي بما في ذلك سعة المستشفى، أوضح أن "أمس ، تم تسجيل ٢٧٩ حالة جديدة ، وهو رقم مرتفع جديد، وسجلت ١٨ حالة عند الوافدين، وتضاعف عدد مرضى كورونا في المستشفيات"، لافتاً الى أن "غالبية الحالات الجديدة سجلت في بيروت وجبل لبنان".
1.7 Understanably, #Covid19 is not a prominent topic at the moment in ????????. At a time when people need to come together, maybe have a group hug, #Covid19 is a nuisance. Yet, new daily cases continue to set new records. What is the current situation, including hospital capacity:

ونشر رسم بياني يظهر نسبة الحالات الجديدة لكورونا لكل ألف نسمة خلال الـ 14 يوم ماضي، مشيراً الى أن "الاتجاه في الرسم البياني أدناه للحالات الجديدة لا لبس فيه، نحن نتجه نحو أوقات أكثر صعوبة".
2.7 Yesterday, 279 new cases were recorded, a new high. 18 were arrivals. Admitted patients doubled. The increase seems mainly in two geographical locations, Beirut and Mount Lebanon. ولفت الى أن " عدد الفحوصات التي اجريت كان جيدا، ويتم إجراء أكثر من ٧٠٠٠ فحص يومي".
وأضاف: "هذا مهم ويسهل اجراءات العزل المبكر وعلى الرغم من ذلك، من الواضح أن معدل الإيجابية في الفحوصات يرتفع أيضًا".
واعتبر أن "الزيادة في الحالات حقيقية وليست بسبب المزيد من الفحوصات. نحن بكل صراحة في مرحلة انتشار مجتمعي".
3.7 Testing capacity has kept up. More than 7000 daily tests were done. This is important. It facilitates early isolation. The positivity rate though seems to be trending up as well. The increase in cases is genuine, and not due to more tests. We are in a community-spread phase.

وشدد على أن "يجب تجنب انتقال العدوى، لكننا في مرحلة يغلب فيها على الناس مشاعر الالم والخسارة وعلى الرغم من أن البعض يرتدي أقنعة الوجه، إلا أن هنالك حاجة إلى مساعدة الناس بعضهم لبعض والالتقاء، والتضامن له الأولوية"، مشيراً الى أن "في هذه اللحظة، تتفوق الحاجة للتماسك الاجتماعي على الحاجة للتباعد الاجتماعي".
4.7 We are also in a phase where people are hurt and restless. Though many appear to wear face masks, the need to come together, help each other, establish contact, and show solidarity is taking precedence. At this moment, social cohesion trumps social distancing.

وقال: "الناس ايضاً غاضبون وحتى لو كان الإغلاق التام مطلوبا، فمن المشكوك فيه أن تستطيع السلطات فرضه".
واعتبر أن "من الواضح أن أي بقايا ثقة أو احترام قد تلاشت مع الانفجار ومن الصعب تقديم اقتراحات للتدابير التي يمكن فرضها لتسطيح المنحنى أو احتواء الموجة الحالية".
5.7 People are also angry. Even if lockdown is mandated, it is doubtful authorities can enforce it. It is clear any remnants of trust or respect have vanished with the explosion. It is difficult to see what measures can be imposed to flatten the curve or contain the current wave.

وسأل: "هل ستصمد المستشفيات؟"، مشيراً الى أن "قدرة القطاع الصحي على الارتقاء إلى مستوى الحدث أثناء الانفجار، واستيعاب آلاف الضحايا، كانت مثيرة للاعجاب ولكن الآن ، أصبحت المستشفيات ممتلئة، ومخازن مستلزماتها شبه فارغة، وطاقة موظفيها مستنزفة فهل يمكنهم تقديم المزيد؟".
6.7 Will hospitals cope? The ability of the healthcare sector to rise to the occasion during the explosion, and absorb thousands of casualties, was unbelievable. But now, hospitals are full, their stores depleted, the energy of their staff spent. Can they give more?

وقال: "اللبنانيون في بلاد الاغتراب والمجتمع الدولي سوف يساعدوننا، وبدأت المساعدات في الوصول وستقوم المستشفيات الميدانية برفع الطاقة الاستيعابية وقد أظهر المجتمع، وخاصة جيل الشباب، قدرة على التحمل وإرادة العمل من أجل مستقبل أفضل".
وسأل: "موجة ثانية؟ بمقدورنا، وسنقوم بدحرها عنا ان شاءالله".
7.7 Our diaspora and the international community will help. Aid started to arrive. Field hospitals will help raise capacity. People, especially the younger generation, have shown resilience, and a will to work for a better future. Second wave? We can, and we will, turn the tide.
