Disinformation campaign: no divisions within the Association of Banks!

In their conversation with Lebanon Debate, well-informed banking sources refuted "what was recently circulated about a split between members of the Association of Banks in Lebanon. The rumors started after a number of members met with the International Monetary Fund delegation headed by Ernesto Ramirez Rego. Their discussions tackled the mechanisms to return deposits below 100,000 dollars and write off those that exceed this amount."

The sources stressed that "this talk falls within the framework of misinformation campaigns against banks, stressing that all bankers are working on protecting deposits and the right of depositors to retrieve them."

They also called for "the need to preserve the unity of the association in defending the rights of banks and depositors alike."
