All eyes are turning towards the 8th ministerial Brussel conference that will be held today on “Supporting the future of Syria and the region”.
The FM in the caretaker government Abdallah Bou Habib will be participating in the conference and will express Lebanon’s position from the Syrian displacement file.
In this context, the chairperson of the international relations committee, MP Fadi Alame confirmed in an interview with “Lebanon Debate”: “the Brussel conference is an annual conference that tackles the Syrian displacement file on a broader scale than just Lebanon, there are many other countries concerned with this file as it also hosts the Syrians.”
Alame added: “The only thing that will strengthen Lebanon’s position in the conference is the unity of the Lebanese position, considering that the FM Bou Habib is armed with the recommendations the international relations committee and backed with the recommendations of the government that were put in place during the last visit of the president of the European commissioner and the Cypriot president.”
He also considered: “We can sense a lot of empathy towards Lebanon and its demands, as well as an improvement in the position of the international community through our recommendations around the Syrian displacement file and the change in the countries position, that also suffer from the Syria displacement.”
The MP concluded: “The unity of the Lebanese position and the governmental recommendations are supposed to be a supporting step, which is why we hope that it will have a positive impact to set the way for a new start.”
