The Restaurant sector in Lebanon has proven to be the most active during the touristic season, a main pillar among the productive sectors and the principal source of revenue of the country, despite the economic and security crises that the south is witnessing.

Head of the restaurant, coffee shops, nightclubs, and pastries syndicate Tony Rami confirmed in an interview with “Lebanon debate”: “The restaurant sector lives day by day, especially with the continuous talk of a full-scale war in Lebanon. Yet still, hope persists and we always look forward towards what’s best.”

Rami also highlighted the touristic meeting that the syndicate convened on “together we promote our union and renew our resilient spirit and hope in our institutions and in Lebanon”. The minister of tourism Walid Nassar, the head of the economic bodies former minister Mohamad Choucair were also present.

The purpose of the meeting was to cooperate for the upcoming summer season.

In this context, Rami added: “We are looking forward to the start of summer and we have been preparing a lot. We are totally ready to welcome a prosperous summer, especially since we will be witnessing a rather active movement during the summer festivals. The outcome of this movement will be full of positivity.”

He expects that the summer will be quite busy, since a lot of expats will be coming from the gulf countries in addition to the many concerts that will be held in Lebanon.

“No matter the situation our sector will always support the touristic season especially since the preparations for summer concerts have been completed and restaurants are getting ready to provide more services during these concerts. We hope that the restaurant sector will be active all summer if Lebanon remains safe from a full-scale war because we are aware of the reality we are in and live day by day.”

Rami concluded: “We are rather positive, and we are preparing ourselves by working day and night to succeed in the upcoming touristic season. Concerts will be held throughout the summer, in cooperation with the organizers of the concerts, so that the expat is tempted to prolong his stay. We pray that Lebanon will see better days, filled with peace and comfort.”
