Details of US Embassy Attack

Further details have emerged regarding the first moments of the attack on the US embassy and its aftermath.

According to preliminary information obtained by Lebanon Debate, the assailant arrived in the vicinity of the embassy and entered one of its neighboring buildings. There, he armed himself before directly proceeding to the embassy entrance, where he began firing heavily at the embassy guards.

The attack coincided with the passage of a Lebanese army vehicle belonging to the brigade in charge of protecting the embassy near the location. The assailant immediately opened fire on the vehicle. However, the officer and personnel on board swiftly disembarked, took a combat stance, and fired back at him. They managed to shoot the assailant several times before he was subdued and captured.

Embassy guard Joseph Amin was the first person shot in the head. Following the assailant's arrest, Amin was rushed to the hospital, where he is currently undergoing surgery.

Another embassy guard, Charbel Seropian, sustained minor injuries. He received treatment at the hospital and has since been discharged.
Security forces are currently conducting an on-site investigation to determine the assailant's arrival at the scene and the means he took to reach it. Additionally, they are retrieving surveillance footage from the vicinity of the embassy and analyzing it, along with all videos captured during the attack.

Subsequently, the State Security Directorate in the Beqaa, in collaboration with the Intelligence Directorate, carried out a swift and sting operation in the town of Majdal Anjar. They successfully apprehended the brother of the assailant involved in the embassy incident, following the directive of the Public Prosecutor at the Court of Appeal in the Beqaa, Judge Munif Barakat. The detained individual was handed over to the appropriate authorities, and investigations began.
