A Sole Goal and a Positive Atmosphere

“Lebanon Debate”

The only development in the presidential file is the current initiative of the Progressive Socialist Party. They will lobby other parliamentary blocs and political parties to broker an internal Lebanese settlement. The meeting was held between the Progressive Socialist Party and the National Moderation Bloc with the aim of finding common ground.

In his discussion with Lebanon Debate, the member of the National Moderation Bloc, MP Walid al-Baarini, confirmed that “the atmosphere of this meeting was positive, especially because we share the same vision and opinion with regard to the way to address the presidential file. We hope that their initiative will be successful as it aligns with our proposal.”

Regarding the points they agreed upon, the MP clarifies that “during our meeting, we mutually agreed to enhance the work, introduce innovative ideas, and implement a new mechanism to move forward with the presidential file. The mechanism will be revealed to the public shortly.”

Al-Baarini stated that “we welcome every initiative that helps find common ground. This initiative strengthens our stance on this file. We don't perceive this as a competition but rather as a collaborative, supportive effort. Our objective is to elect a president, irrespective of which team's initiative prevails."

The MP emphasized, "This action is condemnable, and we oppose any threats to security. We place our trust and confidence in our security and military institutions, with whom we collaborate extensively to maintain order in the northern region and prevent any acts of sabotage. Our priority is to safeguard our citizens and preserve the integrity of our nation."
