Luna al-Shibl, Assad's Advisor, Passes Away

Following a car accident, Luna al-Shibl, the media advisor to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, was transferred to intensive care at a hospital in Damascus, where her death was announced on Friday.

Sources disclosed to "Al-Majalla" magazine that Luna al-Shibl had passed away.

The political and media office of the Syrian Presidency informed the SANA news agency that she was involved in a car accident on a road leading to Damascus on Tuesday afternoon.

The office clarified that the accident caused the vehicle she was traveling in to veer off the road, resulting in severe injuries.

Earlier, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that Luna al-Shibl had been taken to Al-Shami Hospital, a renowned facility in Damascus, and described her condition as "critical" due to a head injury.

Additionally, reports indicated that her brother had been arrested in Damascus a week prior.

The Syrian Presidency issued a statement mourning Luna al-Shibl, stating that she "passed away following a tragic car accident."

The statement noted, "Luna al-Shibl served as the director of the political and media office at the Presidency in recent years and later as a special advisor."

It concluded, "The Presidency extends its deepest condolences and sympathy to her family and loved ones."
