Exposed: MP Uncovers Hidden Truths at Beirut Airport

On Monday, MP Adib Abdel Massih criticized the situation at Beirut airport in a publication via X. He wrote, "I stood in line just like any other passenger at the Beirut airport for inspection, where it was evident that maintenance funding had been neglected.

“Mohammed al-Hout never fails to reiterate that if it were not for the Middle East Airlines, there would be no maintenance. "

"I waited for 20 minutes; however, this is not the issue."

Abdel Masih noted that "during this time, 5 individuals bypassed the regular queue through a 'military line', which means that they didn't have to wait."

He elaborated, "If we estimate that 15 people pass through 'special connections', or as we call it in Lebanon 'Wasta', every hour, that amounts to approximately 360 passengers daily."

"If we consider that about 250 financially capable passengers pay $200 to use the VIP lounge, Beirut airport incurs a direct daily loss of $50,000, totaling $1.5 million monthly and $18 million annually," Abdel Massih remarked.

The MP further explained, "In addition to the financial losses, there's the ethical damage to law-abiding citizens, as well as the potential for increased smuggling and evasion facilitated by such preferential treatment."

He highlighted that some may question the timing of his post, especially during peak tourist seasons.

Abdel Massih concluded with a call to action: "The solution lies in respecting others, combating corruption, and working in the interest of the state, particularly during tourist seasons. I apologize for sharing evidence publicly out of respect for my suit."
