The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued a statement, which read: "On July 15, 2024, the manager of a company in the Anfeh highway area was shot at while in his car and had $460,000 stolen from him."
It continued, "As a result of the investigations conducted by the Northern Investigation Unit’s personnel, one of the company employees W. F. (born in 1997, Lebanese) was arrested in Shekka on July 16, 2024.
The statement added, "During the investigation, he admitted to coordinating with gang members and monitoring to carry out the robbery. On July 17, 2024, in a town in Akkar, the mastermind and executor of the robbery, named A. M. (born in 1988, Lebanese), nicknamed 'Al-Aki,' who was wanted under robbery warrants, was arrested."
It explained, "During his arrest, the patrol came under gunfire from unidentified individuals, and responded to the source of the shooting. Upon searching him, a sum of money belonging to the company, a handgun, two magazines, and 21 live rounds were found in his possession."
The statement also noted, "The vehicle used in the robbery, a 'Golf' model with a fake front license plate, was also seized."
It concluded: "The necessary legal measures were taken against them and they were handed over to the relevant authority based on judicial instructions."
