أشار المنسق الخاص للأمين العام للأمم المتحدة في لبنان يان كوبيتش في تغريدة على حسابه عبر "تويتر"، الى أن "بعد مرور 100 عام على إنشائه، عاش لبنان خلالها تاريخ غني ومضطرب، متشابك بشكل قاتل مع تاريخ المنطقة الأوسع، وحقق العديد من الإنجازات المذهلة ولكن أيضًا مع خيبات أمل وأزمات عميقة".

وأضاف: "ومع ذلك فهو لا يزال يبرز بنسيجه الاجتماعي الفريد من نوعه كنموذج للتعايش والثقافة وللشعب المنفتح والصامد على الرغم من أزمته الوجودية الحالية، ليس لبنان هو من فشل، بل الطبقة السياسية هي التي استمرت في خذلان البلاد وشعبها".
