Lebanon awaits the American-French summit, following the recent visit of French envoy Jean Yves Le Drian to address various Lebanese issues, including the situation in the south, the escalating tensions, and the importance of a political settlement leading to presidential elections.
Journalist and political analyst Georges Alam stated: “The current objective of the French envoy is to deliver a comprehensive report about his latest visit to Lebanon to French president Emanuel Macron ahead of his meeting with US president Joe Biden on June 8.”
About the French American summit, he indicated that the Lebanese file will be on the table, but any significant progress will depend on an American-Iranian agreement.
Alam refused to assume the outcome of the summit and the developments that may unfold in the coming days.
