Following the gunshot attack at the US embassy in Awkar, concerns were raised due to its potential, especially after writings were found on the garment of the shooter after he was seized by the army. These writings indicate his affiliation with ISIS.

In his discussion with Lebanon Debate, the journalist and political analyst Ibrahim Rihan stated that “the timing of the US embassy incident is suspicious, especially amid the ongoing circumstances the region is facing due to the US deal aimed at achieving a ceasefire in Gaza and reports from Iran’s caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ali Bagheri, regarding this issue. Therefore, the current events are intertwined.”

Rihan says: “The quote that was found on the shooter could be an indication of direct involvement by ISIS in the attack or an attempt to steer the incident in another direction. In any case, all evidence proves that the incident was not random.”

The journalist further noted that “every incident is influenced by specific circumstances, and the political context of the country suggests a hidden connection to the sudden emergence of ISIS.”
