The Ein el-Hilwe camp remains tense and cautious following the assassination of Yassin Akl, a member of the Palestinian National Security Forces. He was shot by the son of Jamal Hamad, who holds different ideological leanings from his father's Fatah affiliation and is inclined towards ISIS ideology.
Over 48 hours have passed since the deadline set by the political leadership of the national and Islamic forces in the Sidon region. They had reached an agreement for the surrender of the perpetrator after negotiations with his family and relevant authorities.
Sources inside the camp told Lebanon Debate that handing over the perpetrator remains challenging. However, this does not mean that clashes will be renewed, but the prevailing tension will remain. As for the victim's family, they are not expected to stay silent on the matter.
The victim was buried yesterday, yet there are indications that his family and the Fatah movement are seeking revenge. The sources revealed that many individuals are potential targets in the anticipated revenge operation.
