Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League, Hossam Zaki, announced on Monday that he retracts his earlier statements regarding the Arab League no longer considering Hezeb an organization.
In a statement, he clarified: "My previous statements about Hezeb were taken out of context."
Zaki further noted, "Reservations about the party’s behavior and policies still exist internally and regionally."
He also highlighted that one of the most crucial Arab League resolutions focuses on maintaining Arab national security and combating terrorism.
This resolution explicitly prohibits any form of support, whether direct or indirect, to entities or individuals involved in terrorist acts, including militias or irregular armed groups. The decision was unanimously approved by member states.
Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, emphasized that "the General Secretariat remains fully committed to implementing the decisions of member states on all issues."
