“Lebanon Debate”

The Acting Attorney General of Cassation, Judge Jamal Al-Hajjar, received financial reports from the Special Investigation Commission at the Lebanese Central Bank. Documents from the Central Bank expose manipulation resulting in approximately a hundred million dollars in losses. These losses allegedly stem from commissions paid to the company "Optimum" in a deal involving former governor Riad Salameh.

According to financial sources speaking to Lebanon Debate, in light of this financial scandal, both the Central Bank and the Special Investigation Commission, under the leadership of acting governor Wassim Mansouri, have submitted all required documents outlined in the Alvarez & Marshall report since September 2023. Among these documents is a file known as the consulting account, valued at over one million dollars.

The sources confirm that Judge Al-Hajjar intends to broaden the investigation based on the information revealed in these documents regarding those implicated in the operation. The Special Investigation Commission and Mansouri have cooperated in providing these documents to facilitate further legal action.
